So from the amazing darkstar>spanish>usblues to the one and only performance of "let it rock" to the sweet sweet ballads to the lazily rockin "casey jones" i highly recommend this skull banger of classic dead.Need a backup of all your videos in a DVD format? Finding difficulty in the burning process as it is too long? Why should you panic when Wondershare UniConverter is here to assist you? This program is one of the best alternatives to Toast Titanium, supporting almost all video formats and video-related functionalities. as you can see, i have 3 years that tend to be the goldmine for me. over the years, 25 since i first heard it, i've come back to it as often and probably more than others i love, boston fall 1973 run, may 1977, dillon 1974, dane county spring & fall 1973, cow palace 1974. I don't like hyperbole and try to avoid it, that said this is one of fav boots of all time, and may be my very favorite. keith gets some on this one with what sounds like a b3 hammond, i can't recall what he had on tour around this time. a languid, breezy "black peter" exemplifies the performance, it's soft, tough, bluesy, jazzy, gorgeous. china doll is where they pull out the serious "i have never heard them sing like that" harmonies. great vox all around here, jerry esp on point this night. same goes for to lay me down, with donna sounding great, a rarity in the wall days, because the damn thing was so loud she couldn't hear herself. every lick jerry and bob peel off sounds perfect, no hesitation, no feeling around in the dark, just saying it as it's meant to be said, sublime. it sounds almost (i don't want to get in trouble here) practiced. The jam>ship of fools sequence is some of the most beautiful playing the dead ever did. what wins out for me are the sharp takes on the ballads that were new at the time, and were a bit hit or miss as far as how solid they came off.

The jams here are already the stuff of legend among heads so i'll just say they are deservedly so. the dead had been through the ringer with bugs in the wall at this point and i think on this night they just no longer gave a shit as it seems the tech problems actually enhanced and inspired the performance. the rare ROR opener with the blessed tech difficulty of only vox & piano being audible with drums, bass, & guitar fading in on the second verse, sick.

every song could potentially be the version for you. 1974 was the dead at the height of their collective powers and with that insane system behind them they took full advantage of the serendipity of the situation. This show is one of those that stands as an amazing testament to the power, technique, and versatility of the dead.
